Model and Photography Contest: The
Club gives modelers a chance to demonstrate their skills by
conducting a model and photo contest. The contest is open to all
members of the club and is patterned after NMRA contest rules.
Modeling categories include railroad equipment with
sub-categories, dioramas, and structures; photography categories
include prototype and models. Contest winners can be justly
proud of their accomplishments.

Newsletter: Read the latest club

Club Picnic: Summer sun is great for
train watching, photographing, and picnics. The club picnic is
an event that provides for a fun-filled gathering for members
and their families.
Field Trips: Club members also enjoy
field trips to visit railroad events and model layouts of other
clubs and individuals. Many members attend national and regional
conventions and swap meets.
Banquet: The club celebrates every
fifth-year anniversary with a banquet. This event gives members
the chance to celebrate past accomplishments, to recongnize
distinguished and outstanding club members for efforts and
contributions, and to enjoy the fellowship of the club in a
social atmosphere.
Model Train Exhibits: The Bluegrass
Railroad Club operates five layouts for the Southern Lights
Exhibit at the Kentucky Horse Park each during the holiday
season. The club owns several
modular units for some of
the layouts, while members of the club own the remaining units.
Some memb
ers also have vintage train models and equipment that
they exhibit on special occasions.
Publications: The Bluegrass Railroad
Club publishes a monthly newsletter, the Bluegrass Railroader,
that reports club business and activities, announces model train
and railfanning activities in Kentucky and surrounding states,
and contains feature articles on a variety of railroad subjects.
Members are encouraged to submit articles for publications. All
club members receive the Bluegrass Railroader as part of
their annual dues.
